Dunkin’ wanted a 360 campaign for the Cosmic Coolatta that showed just how out-of-this world their drink of the summer was. We took it literally, and looked to the stars for an ad 2 billion years in the making.
We created the world’s first ever free, eternal, solar-powered billboard - consisting of 4 bright stars nestled within the famous Ursa Major Constellation that just so happened to perfectly resemble the Cosmic Coolatta. From there, we launched a national TV spot, Snapchat lenses, social content, and even created an Augmented Reality billboard with an astronomer for an experiential galactic viewing event at Boston Harbor to view the legendary Cosmic Coolatta Constellation itself.
The Greek astronomer Ptolemy may have discovered Ursa Major in the 2nd century - but against all odds a group of creatives at BBDO New York discovered the arguably more impressive Cosmic Coolatta Constellation. It was featured as the “US Creative Work of the Week” on The Drum - and with 7.5 billion unique media impressions a day, it broke every record in advertising history (citation needed).
We also created a national TV spot that tugged at the heartstrings of the nation.
A flood of YouTube comments (20) poured in, ranging from “priceless” to “I hate this commercial.”
